DAVOS: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar underscored the imperative of leveraging state-of-the-art technology in the modern era to expedite development goals during a keynote address at the World Economic Forum (WEF) on Wednesday.
Addressing the forum titled “Trade Tech’s Trillion-Dollar Promise” at the 54th annual meeting in Davos, PM Kakar emphasized the necessity of ensuring fair opportunities for all to access and harness technology, stating that equitable opportunities are essential for fostering sustainable global development.
With an eye on technological advancements, PM Kakar asserted that the digital economy would assume even greater significance in the days ahead. He urged that every region of the world should benefit from the progress made in the technology sector, as reported by the state news agency.
Turning to matters of trade and business, PM Kakar advocated for encouraging private sector investment. He further suggested that the private sector should play a leading role in assisting the government in overcoming the challenges inherent in trade and business.
“The government approaches challenges of trade and business in a distinct manner, while private entities and business people hold different opinions,” PM Kakar remarked. He added that private entities should actively contribute, influence, and become opinion-makers in addressing these challenges.
In addition to delivering the keynote address, PM Kakar engaged in high-level discussions with government and business leaders on the sidelines of the WEF event.
