    Six Former KP Chief Ministers Vie in Elections

    PESHAWAR: Unlike previous elections, the upcoming general elections in Pakistan will introduce a wave of new political faces aspiring to enter legislative bodies, alongside seasoned veterans returning to the polls after securing multiple terms.

    However, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, attention will be drawn to six former chief ministers of the province.

    Veteran politician Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao is poised to compete in Charsadda’s NA-24, while Awami National Party leader Haider Hoti is in the race for NA-22.

    Mehtab Abbasi, a former leader estranged from the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz, is contesting from election from Abbottabad NA-16.

    Former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Pervez Khattak has entered the electoral fray in Nowshera’s NA-33, PK-87, and PK-88.

    Another former PTI leader, Mahmood Khan, who served as chief minster from 2018-to 2023 is contesting the election from Swat’s NA-4.

    Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam’s Akram Durrani, who has previously served as both chief minister and opposition leader, is a candidate in PK-100.
    Haider Khan Hoti, who remained chief minister from 2008 to 2013, is vie election from NA-22 and PK-58 Mardan.
