PESHAWAR: A delegation from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) led by Barraister Gohar is set to meet with Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazal (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazalur Rehman to discuss a potential alliance in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa following the refusal of the Awami National Party (ANP) to engage in talks with Imran Khan’s party.

The meeting is expected to take place tonight. Barrister Gohar will lead the five-member delegation, which includes Asad Qaiser, Barrister Saif, and others.

ANP leader Mian Iftikhar Hussain stated, “PTI’s Asad Qaiser reached out to us. However, ANP perceives its support for PTI as a defeat, especially considering the alleged rigging that facilitated PTI’s rise to power in KP.”

“In light of these circumstances, engaging in negotiations with PTI as a party is not feasible,” he added.

“We [ANP] have announced a protest against the election rigging,” Hussain affirmed.

Earlier, the JI had also refused the PTI offer to make a coalition government in KP, demanding alliance at national level

In other developments, PTI nominated former minister Omar Ayub as its candidate for the prime ministerial position. Former National Assembly speaker Asad Qaiser made this announcement after a meeting with PTI Founder Imran Khan outside Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi.

Qaiser expressed optimism regarding PTI’s prospects for the prime ministerial role, asserting that the party’s mandate had been undermined during the recent elections.
