PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to form a judicial commission to investigate the incidents that occurred on May 9, following approval of a resolution by the Provincial Assembly.
Aftab Alam, KP Law Minister, announced that the provincial cabinet, chaired by KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, has given the green light for the establishment of a judicial commission to probe the May 9 events.
The commission aims to uncover the individuals behind the planning and execution of the May 9 incidents through a thorough judicial inquiry, according to KP Cabinet sources.
Alam mentioned that a detailed summary outlining the circumstances surrounding the regime change and the May 9 incidents has been prepared. The next step involves requesting the Peshawar High Court (PHC) to constitute the judicial commission, pending approval of the summary.
The summary encompasses issues related to the arrest and harassment of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders and workers, along with matters concerning the PTI’s electoral symbol ‘bat’ and the caretaker government’s extended tenure beyond the legal limit of 90 days. It also addresses concerns regarding Form-45 and Form-47.
Previously, the KP government had passed a resolution calling for the formation of a judicial commission to investigate the May 9 incidents, which was subsequently forwarded to the provincial cabinet for endorsement.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also lifted the ban on all types of recruitment across the province.
The cabinet has sanctioned the creation of 565 police positions for the DI Khan sub-division of Kalachi. This includes recruitment for 5 sub-inspectors, 10 assistant sub-inspectors, 50 head constables, and 500 constables, aimed at bolstering law enforcement and enhancing security measures.
Additionally, the cabinet endorsed the implementation of a traffic warden system across divisional headquarters similar to Peshawar, Swat, and Abbottabad. This initiative will see the creation of 1,179 new warden posts, covering roles such as Superintendent of Police, Traffic Officer, Senior Warden, Warden, Head Constable, and Junior Patrolling Officer.
Furthermore, the cabinet allocated an additional Rs 319.627 million for Cadet College Razmak, Cadet College Spinkai, and Cadet College Vana.
Moreover, the cabinet approved a 100 percent increase in rents for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Houses located in Islamabad and Abbottabad, as well as Shahi Guest House in Peshawar.
