RAWALPINDI: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman indirectly criticised the government’s use of force against Imran Khan’s party during a protest in Islamabad.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that what happened in D-Chowk was very wrong, but the PTI should also consider its behaviour.
Reacting to news regarding the governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he said that his party is not in favour of a proclamation of emergency in the province.
Addressing a press conference in Rahim Yar Khan, he said that JUI-F will show the nation the right direction at this time. “I consider holding rallies and protests as a right for myself and others as well,” he said.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that his party protested during the PTI government, but not a single pot was broken then. Journalists should also understand the fragility of time. JUI-F has always talked about freedom of the press.
The JUI chief said that the situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan is bad, but the governments of both provinces are not taking steps to establish law and order.
He said that they want new elections to be held in the country. Despite the settlement of issues regarding madrassas, they are not being implemented, which is a question mark.
