Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma has filed a formal complaint with the BCCI against Sunil Gavaskar.
The complaint follows Gavaskar’s critical remarks on Rohit’s performance in the Test series against Australia.
Rohit was unhappy with Gavaskar’s commentary, which he found excessively negative.
The 36-year-old struggled for form, scoring only 31 runs in three Tests.
He dropped himself from the final Test in Sydney, drawing further criticism.
In his column for the Sydney Morning Herald, Gavaskar speculated that Rohit might step down if his form didn’t improve.
He hinted that selectors might not need to act, suggesting a self-imposed exit.
Sources say Rohit saw this as unnecessary pressure that hurt his confidence.
“Rohit felt Gavaskar’s comments were uncalled for. He is already under pressure, and such criticism only adds to the burden,” an insider revealed.
Gavaskar, a respected legend and commentator, sparked controversy with his remarks.
His blunt criticism raised doubts about Rohit’s captaincy after India’s 1-3 series loss.
Under Rohit’s leadership, India also missed the World Test Championship final.
