ISLAMABAD: Former Caretaker federal minister for Commerce and Industries Gohar Ejaz was elected as Chairman Economic Policy and Business Development Think Tank on Friday.
United Business Group (UBG) Patron-in-Chief S.M Tanveer presented “Nishan-e-Amanat” to Gohar Ejaz on electing him as leader of the business community, where Qurrat-ul-Ain Vice President FPCCI was also present.
Addressing on this occasion, Ejaz announced to highlight and resolved business community issues at all foams. He said that expensive electricity is one of the major issues, the industry is facing and without recuing its prices, neither industry not the country’ economy could operate.
Slating the government for increasing the cost of electricity for commercial usage, S.M Tanveer said the industry could not function properly at the present power rate.
“Nobody wants to pursue a business due to the massive surge in power bills,” he said in a joint presser with former federal minister Gohar Ejaz.
Tanveer, said only through the increase of exports would the country be able to come out of the woods. “No significant step has been taken in this regard as the business community has serious reservations about the handling of the issue,” he said.
Tanveer requested Ejaz to lead the business community of the whole country for a brighter future. Ejaz said the country would make progress only if the industrial sector’s grievances were alleviated.
