ISLAMABAD: inDrive, the global ride-hailing platform, proudly announces the launch of its first electric vehicle (EV) fleet in Pakistan. In partnership with EZ Bike, inDrive has also introduced an EV charging station in Islamabad, making it the first ride-hailing company in the country to integrate electric bikes into its operations. This initiative marks a significant step toward providing eco-friendly, affordable transportation while reducing emissions in Pakistan’s urban mobility sector.
As part of a pilot project, inDrive has officially commenced the replacement of traditional motorbikes with battery-powered electric bikes. This innovative transition is enabled through a strategic collaboration with EZ Bike, a leader in electric bike technology and battery solutions. EZ Bike has played a pivotal role in developing an advanced battery conversion system, ensuring that regular motorbikes can be efficiently converted to electric—offering cleaner, more sustainable transportation for the roads of Pakistan.
The newly launched electric bike charging station, located at the inDrive Pitstop, will support the growing fleet of electric bikes. With plans to expand as demand rises, the station will serve both bike-hailing drivers and couriers, ensuring uninterrupted service with significantly lower running costs and reduced emissions.
“We’re thrilled to launch this initiative in Pakistan,” Sidra Kiran, PR and Communication Manager of inDrive Pakistan, shared her thoughts on the launch: “Our collaboration with EZ Bike to launch an EV fleet underscores our commitment to sustainable urban mobility. With increasing environmental challenges, it is crucial for us to innovate and lead the way in adopting sustainable practices. By introducing electric bikes and a dedicated charging station, we’re taking a meaningful step toward reducing our carbon footprint while providing riders with safe, reliable, and environmentally-friendly options. This is just the beginning of inDrive’s green journey in Pakistan.”
Ali Moeen, CEO of ezBike, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership; “We are thrilled to partner with inDrive to accelerate the future of clean, sustainable transportation in Pakistan. By combining our cutting-edge battery-swapping technology with inDrive’s extensive network, we’re providing riders with an affordable alternative to rising fuel costs. Together, we are not only helping to reduce expenses for drivers but also making a lasting impact on pollution and urban air quality.
The conversion of these motorbikes to electric is expected to drastically reduce harmful emissions. Motorbikes are a major contributor to air pollution in cities like Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad. Through this pilot project, inDrive aims to replace traditional bikes with environmentally friendly electric alternatives, reducing the overall carbon footprint of the transportation sector.
This launch reaffirms inDrive’s leadership in revolutionizing the transportation landscape in Pakistan with sustainable innovations.
